I was reading Romans 2 today and came across vs. 11 "For God shows no partiality." I find it interesting that we do. We are very partial beings yet God is impartial. It reminded me of week-before-last's sermon we called "Sacular," focusing on how we are supposed to combine the sacred with the secular. We coined it sacular based on trying to live partial lives. For example, we are one person at home, one person at work, one person at church, etc. We live our lives like an orange... which can be separated into sections. When in reality, we are called to live like an apple... which isn't separated, it's the same throughout. When I read this passage this morning, though, that God shows no partiality, I'm reminded of how we are also to be in action, showing no favoritism from one person to another. What a blessing for us, that our God doesn't have favorites, that He's not inclined to one person over the other! God is a righteous Judge. Praise Him for who he is!
Blessings,

I like the term "sacular." I've been reading and reflecting on how worship is somtehing that pervades all of our lives and is not limited to a time or place. We do love to fragment our lives. Perhaps it is a way of trying to keep God at a safe distance. Thanks for the thoughts on this idea.
