Crazy weekend...

Well, it was just that... Friday was morning # 2 of Hayden running a fever. He had also had odd symptoms: irritation to light, sore neck, tummy ache, pulling at his ears, and running a fever. My dad called to check on him and suggested we get him to the doctor because he thought it might be Meningitis. Oh how the fear overwhelmed us! We called the pediatrician immediately! Scheduled an appointment, and got ready to go. It's crazy how you find yourself wanting to bargain with the Almighty in these situations... I knew that the first thing they would want to do is a spinal tap to check his spinal fluid if it could possibly be Meningitis, and I was fearful of the pain that my little boy would have to endure. It was one of those... "Lord, if there's any way... please let me endure some sort of pain so he doesn't have to." You find yourself making odd agreements.

Upon arriving at the doctor's office, she ruled out Meningitis! (PRAISE GOD!) Luckily, Hayden was able to move his neck up and down and left and right and just like that we were in the clear... sort of. She said he has Pharyngitis. He's on antibiotics now, and doing much better.

But that wasn't the end... it was so nice outside that we went and sort of celebrated by getting snow cones then we went over to Susanna's parents and managed to just never leave. I went and got us pizza. Came back and chilled out. Hayden fell asleep and we didn't want to wake him up because he was finally sleeping good... so we all stayed there and he slept right into Saturday morning... 9AM. :-) By this point, the weather had drastically changed.
Friday night I had been wearing shorts, t-shirt, and sandals, and went to get the pizza with the windows down and Kings of Leon cranking. That was not the case Saturday morning! It was freezing cold outside and raining! I guess we should have driven home listening to blues... Dave Matthews was close enough. :-)

Saturday night we went over to my mom and dad's house to spend time with Tiffany, Aaron, and Aleah before the three of them had to head back to Kentucky. We had a great time, and it was sad when we had to leave to get the kids ready for bed. Sunday morning was quite a different story... I woke up and went in to brew my coffee only to realize that we had received several inches of snow... on March 21st! Crazy! Dad and I headed out to the Fort Smith campus to hook up and pull the trailers down to Greenwood. Once we got to Greenwood, the roads were actually pretty bad. We got halfway set up for the 10:30 service when we lost power. Needless to say the power never came back on. So, we had our worship service completely unplugged and acoustic while sitting in the cold dark... and it was AWESOME! It was such a beautiful time... Singing about how our sins are forgiven and we've been washed white as snow as the snow fell outside. It was powerful. The message was excellent, reminding us that Jesus said, "It is Finished." That the work had been done, and there's no work for us to do. It was a Sunday that I will never forget. It was a great time of fellowship, teamwork, and worship.

Needless to say it was one of the most bizarre weekends but I praise God that it was as adventurous as it was... that's life. You just never know. He knows, and it's our decision to rejoice and enjoy the crazy times and trials or to panic.

Philippians 4:4 "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, Rejoice!"

Blessings,
Frankie
