My Mom...

It's no coincidence that today is my mom's birthday. But what is coincidental is that today in teaching meeting we worked on our Mother's Day sermon. I sat there thinking about how blessed I am to have such a great mom. As we wrestled with working out an outline for the sermon, I couldn't help but think of how often my mom must have prayed for me. As she watched me grow up and saw me making decisions and getting into trouble and making mistakes, I can't help but think of how often she must have prayed for direction, discernment, wisdom, insight, etc. over my life. I remember as a little kid when she would tuck me in bed at night how she taught me how to pray, how we would pray for my future wife, how we would pray for my friends and my family, how we would sing Psalty tapes in the old Chevy Astro Van that we sported around town and how she would teach me the stories of the Bible. I have wonderful memories of my childhood, and that is because of the love and devotion of my parents. My mom has taught me a lot.

Today I'm mindful of my mom's teaching...
Proverbs 6:20-23 says, "My son, keep your father's commandment, and forsake not your mother's teaching.
21 Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck.
22 When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you;
and when you awake, they will talk with you.
23 For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light,
and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life..."

So it's with great love and appreciation that I celebrate her life today. Happy Birthday Mom! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Blessings,
Frankie
